John McDaid, a Northern Irish singer, songwriter, guitarist, and record producer was born on July 24, 1976. He is a member of the band's Snow Patrol and Vega4 and has collaborated on songs with Ed Sheeran, P!nk, and Robbie Williams, among others. Vega4's second album, You and Others, was produced by Jacknife Lee, and McDaid was the band's frontman and lyricist. Its first hit, "Life Is Beautiful," spent 12 weeks in the Top 40 of the US Contemporary Radio Charts in 2007, and was featured in the movie trailer for My Sister's Keeper. McDaid was the first individual to sign with Polar Patrol Publishing, Snow Patrol's publishing business, in 2009.
